Siobhán McHugh is an award-winning audio producer, podcasting critic and social historian, whose work has been recognized by the New York Radio Festival, the Walkleys, the NSW Premier’s Audio-Visual award and the UN, among others. Siobhán was consulting producer on Phoebe’s Fall, a podcast by The Age newsroom which examined the bizarre death of a young woman in Melbourne and the botched police examination that followed. Phoebe’s Fall deposed Serial from the #1 slot in Australian iTunes, won national and international awards and triggered a review of the Victorian Coroner’s Act. Siobhán is Senior Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Wollongong, where she founded and edits RadioDoc Review, which commissions expert critiques of the world’s best storytelling podcasts and audio features. She is working to establish a Hub for Innovation in Podcasting (HIP), a project shortlisted for the 2017 Walkley Media Incubator and Innovation Fund.
