Digital journalism lecturer
Corinne Podger is a digital journalism lecturer and trainer who has specialised in teaching mobile content production for the past five years. Corinne worked as a print, radio and TV journalist for 22 years in Australia and the UK, primarily with the BBC and ABC, before transitioning to media development in 2013. She worked first with Thomson Reuters Foundation, the charitable arm of Reuters, where she designed and ran journalism training including the Foundation's first mobile journalism course. She then joined the BBC's media development charity BBC Media Action, where she trained the organisation's 600 staff in smartphone video and photography to accompany a new organisational social media strategy. In 2016 Corinne returned home to Australia to join Fairfax Media, where she designed and ran digital multimedia skills training for newsroom reporters. Earlier this year she began teaching Mobile, Video and Multimedia Journalism in the BA Journalism programme at Macleay College in Melbourne. Corinne has been featured as a thought leader on mobile journalism by the International Journalists Network and in May 2017, she was a plenary speaker at Mojocon, the international mobile journalism conference run by Irish public broadcaster RTE. Corinne holds a BA in Politics from Macquarie University and an MA in International Relations from the University of Cambridge UK.
